来自美国BNS公司的CUBE为科研人员提供了一款便携式的独立光镊系统,其大小仅一英尺见方。这一精巧的仪器使得用户可以通过光镊对数以百计的微粒通过电脑进行三维操控或单独移动每一个光阱。用户可以设置光阱并且通过电脑操纵微粒三维运动。


光镊可用于操纵具有不同材料特性的微粒,大小从十几纳米到十几微米。可操纵的微粒包括细胞生物组织、介质球、金属球、金属微纳壳、碳纳米管、气泡、甚至是空气中的水滴。 

 

CUBE光镊系统的应用之一是生物技术研究。这样的工具可用于测量细胞性质以及细胞与外界物体相互作用的控制性研究。另一个应用例子是利用独特的热电效应,为工程材料捕获金属物质和碳纳米管
